• Young Hattori was so gifted with the sword that the emperor offered a prize of one thousand horses to anyone who could defeat her.

Context

The political head of Japan has been its emperor for many centuries. There is a plethora of information out there regarding this role in history (as well as in the present day), and it is beyond the scope of this site to provide much more information than is needed or requested to provide context for the different aspects of Brawlhalla lore.

Suffice it to say that the rule of emperors was alive and well during Hattori's life (likely the 15th century, when ninjas were most prevalent).
