• One of Sir Roland's myriad titles is "Admiral of the Northern Seas"

Context

The North Sea is the area of the Atlantic Ocean that sits between Great Britain and Skandinavia (Denmark, Norway, even part of Germany). Given Sir Roland's supposed exploits among the Danes and in Alsburg, this is not at all surprising. This is all assuming, of course, that "Northern Seas' doesn't refer to the very far north, at or near the Arctic Circle.
