Belzar

Connections

  • Things took a turn for the worse for Cross when he obtained the Shrouded Gauntlets of Belzar; cloaked strangers ("hard looking figures with archaic cloaks and ancient weapons") hunted him down and he had to fight them off, but he held his own
  • Alan, a priest of Belzar spoke a hasty prayer as Diana approached (her arrival was preceded by the building being on fire)
  • When he needs a specialist (such as getting the Ravenous Sloor to "slip the mortal coil"), Belzar calls Nix

Context

The name "Belzar" crops up in the oddest places, such as the main villain of an obscure N64 game, or a fan-made legend for League of Legends, or elsewhere. In spite of all this, no mythology or fantasy setting seems to be able to lay claim to any character with this name. Oddly enough, any such references do have this in common: a strong connection with demonic or dark magic powers/sources.

That being said, Belzar is clearly a powerful being or deity in the Brawlhalla universe. Nix's lore calls him the Ikruski God of Death and Volcanoes, connecting him with Jhala's and Sidra's lore (since both reference a place called Ikrusk). Belzar has a literal cult following, and three of its members are or were Alan, Bob, and Cytorax (according to Diana's lore). Because Diana was after the cult, we can assume it, as well as Belzar, is evil.

Cross now uses Belzar's pair of Shrouded Gauntlets, which somehow led to him being chased by "cloaked strangers" with archaic clothes and weapons. Perhaps this is evidence of time travel or at least summoning from another time to chase after Cross?

  1. I am reading all the legends. I came from a link in the cross tab. One problem i have with this is at the end of the second to last paragraph. Where it says ", it evil." does not make any sense to me. I think it could be ",it was evil."

Anyway, I gratefully appreciate what you are doing here. The work you put into this is extensive and it shows.

    Thank You
