Office of Emergency Logistics (OEL)

Connections

  • People with security clearance to know that the Office of Emergency Logistics existed also knew that it was Major Isaiah Marshall who made the OEL America’s first line of defense

Context

For those who don't know, "logistics" is defined as "the detailed coordination of a complex operation involving many people, facilities, or supplies." It can also refer to transporting goods. In this case, however, I'm inclined to think the Office of Emergency Logistics is more in the business of planning and accomplishing complex and dangerous missions.

What we know about the OEL is that it's a top-secret defense agency in America under executive jurisdiction. Judging by President Coates's surprise regarding the "sheer number of malevolent forces, both supernatural and mundane" (remember, this comes from a guy who did superhero work for much of his life), the OEL is also responsible for noticing, neutralizing, and concealing all sorts of threats, especially things like terrorist groups, demons (like the Rakshasa), aliens (Zhaktari), and werewolves.

If the OEL were a real American government agency, it would likely fall under the enormous umbrella of the Department of Defense (DoD). The DoD is in charge of the Army, Navy, Air Force, and many other departments and agencies, both for defense and for intelligence (CIA, FBI, etc.). All of these departments and agencies can run on their own, but they are all overseen by the president's Secretary of Defense.

We don't really know much else about what the OEL would be like, but any office that has regular taco nights is a win in my book (even if they have to cancel it sometimes if a mission goes for too long). :)

It should also be noted that the OEL could also be an acronym for the Order of the Exalted Lion. Coincidence? Arguably, but since BMG loves coincidences and suggestions, there's no denying the possibility that Isaiah's OEL could be the modern version of Jhala, Sir Roland, Diana, and Mordex's "OEL."
