• Atop her great mammoth, Blue, Kaya became the beloved icon of her tribe, the People of the Lights

Context

There doesn't seem to be a real-world parallel to these People of the Lights, except perhaps as a title for the Inuit tribes that live in the far American north. By "Lights," I assume the title refers to the Northern Lights, or the Aurora Borealis.
