This page features a glossary of terms used by Brawlhalla players. I made this page for the benefit of new players or for friends/family of players. Please contact me for suggestions or corrections.
Chase Dodge: A directional dodge that can be done right after a successful hit, allowing a player to "chase" their opponent and
Coins (gold, mammoth): Gold coins are in-game currency earned at the end of every match and can be used to purchase characters and color schemes for those characters. Mammoth coins can be acquired by purchasing them with real-world money and can be used to purchase all kinds of cosmetic items that don't affect gameplay (legend skins, weapon skins, avatars, podiums, KO effects, etc.).
Colors: Color schemes to swap the colors used for the characters. Many colors are earned by playing the game and leveling up. Others are tied to specific holidays & events in the game. Still others are earned through Glory or are earned in battle passes.
Dair ("dare"): Short for "down air," a normal attack made in the air while pushing the down button on a keyboard or controller.
Dlight ("dee-light"): Short for "down light," a normal attack made on the ground while pushing the down button on a keyboard or controller.
Dodge (spot, directional, air): When a certain button is pressed, it is possible to have your character "dodge" out of the way of an incoming attack. Characters can dodge on the ground, in the air, and can move slightly in any direction (directional dodge) or in place (spot dodge).
Dsig ("dee-sig"): Short for "down sig," a heavy, signature attack made on the ground while pushing the down button on a keyboard or controller.
Glory: A type of in-game currency that is earned at the end of every competitive season. Doing better competitively equates to more Glory awarded. It is possible to calculate the amount of Glory you could receive by using this calculator on the official Brawlhalla website.
Heavy: A "heavy" attack, also called a signature attack, or a "sig." Each character has a series of light attacks and heavy attacks. Heavy attacks are slower but deal more damage than light attacks.
Light: A "light" attack. Each character has a series of light attacks and heavy attacks. Light attacks are faster but deal less damage than heavy attacks.
Legend: A playable character in Brawlhalla. A new character is added to the game once every couple of months, generally.
Nair (rhymes with "dare"): Short for "neutral air," a normal attack made in the air without pushing any directional button on a keyboard or controller.
Neutral: Could refer to either a neutral attack (an attack made without pressing any directional button), or to a position in the game in which you and your opponent are both on "neutral ground." In this state, neither player has any positional advantage on the other...yet.
Nlight ("en-light"): Short for "neutral light," a normal attack made on the ground without pushing any directional button on a keyboard or controller.
Nsig ("en-sig,"): Short for "neutral sig," a heavy, signature attack made on the ground without pushing any directional button on a keyboard or controller.
Sair (rhymes with "dare"): Short for "side air," a normal attack made in the air while pushing either a left or a right button on a keyboard or controller.
Season: A competitive season usually lasts for 3 or 4 months. When a season ends, players are awarded with a currency called Glory, with the awarded amount increasing the better they did.
Sig: Short for "signature," a heavy attack.
Ssig ("side-sig"): Short for "side sig," a heavy, signature attack made on the ground while pushing either a left or a right button on a keyboard or controller.
Skin: A cosmetic item that drastically changes the appearance of a character or weapon, making them look more awesome or funny, or both. Called a skin because is "reskins" the character or weapon in question. Most skins can only be acquired by spending Mammoth Coins, which are likewise purchased with real money.
Slight ("ess-light"): Short for "side light," a normal attack made on the ground while pushing either a left or a right button on a keyboard or controller.
Unarmed: Any attack made without a weapon. Every character's unarmed attacks are exactly the same.
