Context

The English channel (or "the Channel") is the thin body of water that separates England from northern France. It is about 350 miles (560 km) long, with a width ranging from 150 miles (240 km) to about 20 miles (33 km). There is a rail tunnel ("Channel Tunnel" or "the Chunnel") that goes under the Channel, allowing fast land travel between the two countries.

I wonder why the English Channel was the site of Scarlet's counterattack. Perhaps the Baron, coming from the Lost Word, was arriving from somewhere south and/or east of England?
