Capitaine Eduard Lamont

Connections

  • Believed that the notion of "that fop Lucien Degas" being "the dreaded Highwayman" was absolutely ridiculous; his declaration of that belief apparently became his last words

Context

I could find no connection between this Eduard Lamont and a real-world character from the time of the French Revolution. His name and title are just...French. It should be noted, however, that Eduard means "prosperous guardian" (Old English Eadweard, ead = prosperity/wealth, weard =  guardian/protector), while Lamont (at least in the French origin) is a habitational name that could refer to several places called Amont ("upstream" or "downhill") in central or eastern France.
