Context
The Greek god, Hermes (Roman name, Mercury), is lots of things in the Greek pantheon: messenger of the gods; god of trade, thieves, travelers, sports, athletes, and border crossings; and, most notably, the guide to the Underworld. Perhaps he often employs Nix with freelance reaper/afterlife guide work when his hands are full (which is probably often).
