Scythe of Horus

Connections

  • Mirage stole the Scythe of Horus from a one-eyed alien (possibly Lord Vraxx)

Context

Mirage's Hand of Horus skin includes a scythe skin called "Eye of Horus." The Eye of Horus is an ancient Egyptian symbol of protection, royal power, and good health. It is also known as the wadjet, or wedjat, or udjat. As for Horus, he is the sky god in Egyptian in the Egyptian pantheon, and is often depicted as a man with a falcon head, wearing a king's crown. He is considered to be the guardian or protector of Egypt.

Wait, what about the Hand of Horus referred to from the Mirage skin? That is also a reference to a real-world symbol that some say might have connections to ancient Egypt. In the Egyptian version, two fingers represent Osiris and Isis, while the thumb represents their son, Horus. Another name for this symbol is...wait for it...the Hand of Fatima (named after the youngest daughter of the Islamic prophet Muhammad)!

  2. I wonder if Horus's Styche being in the possession of an alien isnt a concidence.
Correct me if I'm wrong but Egyptians did not have a God for space and the cosmos in general to my knowledge. However in Brawlhalla crazy Egypt where aliens were a common occurence they would surely have to know about other solar systems and the vast space between them.
And Horus, being a god of the sky, could potentially fit the role. Ra could as well, but maybe he would be considered the God of the multiverse in general? And he already overlaps with Horus anyway so it still fits.
It would be interesting if Vraxx had actually taken the Styche of a "space god" and it would really fit his personality as he would consider anyone claiming to be a God over his domain a fool and an enemy.
