Elysium

Connections

Context

Elysium originates in Greek mythology as a paradise with the appearance of beautiful, lush plains, reserved for the souls of the righteous, the heroic, or just those chosen by the gods.

It was after the time of the Greeks when the term really took off in western cultures. Dante's The Divine Comedy, the Champs-Elysees in ParisShakespeare, Cervantes, and more. Now, we see Elysium in many pop culture references that call for a fancy name for heaven, or at least a field of paradise and peace. Dungeons & Dragons, Xenoblade Chronicles 2, and many, many more.

In Brawlhalla, Elysium seems to be Paladium's "Valhalla," as it were, a heavenly realm where he keeps his celestial army.
