I can't believe that it just occurred to me...right now as I'm researching and writing for this page...why Bax got his name. "Bax" is another way to spell "backs," as in the humpbacks of camels. Oh, wow, that's a level of subtle wordplay that I have to greatly admire. Well done, BMG, ya got me.

As for real-world connections to Bax the flying camel, well, there's the Camelbak brand of backpack (which comes with a contained water pouch), and at least one restaurant and even a film named "The Flying Camel." There's also this audiobook, if you're interested.
